The phrases are used as ordinary parts of speech such as verbs, nouns, adjectives, adverbs etc. These are indicated in the book by means of abbreviated forms. It should be borne in mind that a phrase, though shown as a particular part of speech, can be conveniently adapted for use as some other part of speech. A phrase also can be split up and the parts used separately by themselves. A phrase again can be expanded or modified according to convenience.
I have included in this book those phrases only, as a general rule, which are idiomatic. But some important words and compound words also have been used in it. As they are idiomatic in character al d expressive of particular ideas in a forcible way, I have not omitted them from the present volume, though really they ought to find a place in a dictionary of words.
