“We are indeed extremely delighted to learn that
Jayan-malini by Munshi Mofizuddin Ahmed Hazarika of
Dibrugarh has been introduced as a text book in the High
schools of Assain. One calling a spade a spade cannot but
admit that Jnyan-Malini is the best poctical work in
Assamese. Without meaning any disparagement to other
authors it will be but asserting the bare truth that it is this
Work that has revolutionized the very style of pocmwriting in
Assamese and has shown them (the other Assamese
authors) the way how poems of lofty thoughts can be
Written in chaste and pure Assamese. As it has already
| received the highly favourable verdict of all the best
writers of Assam we do not think it necessary to add any-
thing more in this respect. But we wonder, why even this
invaluable work has been so late in finding a place in the
